Rugby headguards effectively prevent cuts, bruises and cauliflower ears, but they are not designed to prevent concussion. However they are a great form of protection for the player. Here are the key things to look for:

Rugby Headguard
Canterbury Raze Headguard - full head coverage, adjustable strap, Lycra lining, stress release chin strap

When buying rugby headguards, this is what you should look for.

It is recommended that that any rugby headguard has World Rugby Approval and provides 360 degree protection. Key features to look for:

  1. Coverage Area and Fit

It is important to have full head coverage - particularly on the fore head. The headguard should feel snug when wearing. Look for an adjustable strap option at the back of the headguard.

  1. Comfort and Hygiene

Look for Lycra lining for a soft feel against the skin and large ear pockets to ensure on-field communication and hearing are not impaired.

  1. Retention Safety

Stress Release chin straps are engineered to break away under extreme load and prevent neck injuries or choking
